YouTube Music adds labels showing when songs were fully or partly made with generative AI, per TechCrunch

Not confirmed by the company — reported on Oct 14, 2026 (source: techcrunch.com).

YouTube Music began rolling out labels on the player page that show when a track was created with generative AI, including AI used for composition or vocals; tapping the label explains AI's role in the track, and the labels will also appear in the main YouTube app. Partners declare each work as Fully Gen AI, Partly Gen AI or No Gen AI, and YouTube says it also uses its own detection tools; tracks edited only with pitch-correction tools such as Auto-Tune count as No Gen AI. Unlike Deezer and TIDAL, which keep fully AI-generated tracks out of recommendations or royalties, YouTube is focusing on disclosure, and AI involvement alone does not make a track ineligible for monetization.
