Tolan, an AI companion app that helps people organize daily life and family tasks, has raised $30 million from Union Square Ventures, Khosla Ventures and Homebrew, doubling its total funding, Upstarts Media reports. The startup declined to share its valuation but said the round is a significant step up from its previous $120 million valuation, per PitchBook. Tolan says about 250,000 people use it, that about 70% of users are women and 40% are parents, and that annual recurring revenue has more than doubled from last year to the double-digit millions. It plans to use the money to widen access, including a first-ever free tier, and CEO Quinten Farmer says it is not yet profitable, per Upstarts Media.
